A contact microphone is attached to the outer face of a steel acoustic horn that is resonating in a corner. A speaker driver sits at the tapered end of the horn, projecting the microphone’s signal back into itself—producing the feedback loop that is being heard in the room. Another contact microphone is attached to a vertical Amerimax aluminum gutter downspout pipe, which feeds into the horn driver. On top of a black file cabinet sits a mixer, which houses the microphone inputs and driver output. Within the top drawer of the file cabinet stand a gridded formation of 3.5 millimeter to ¼ inch stereo adapters. Suspended above the Amerimax pipe is a rainbow parachute, officially branded as an “Institutional Play Parachute” by its vendor. Sitting under the parachute on the floor are two cathode-ray tube televisions that are playing a sequence of images posted to the Google Reviews and Instagram pages for Texas Roadhouse, located in the U.S. Army base of Camp Humphreys, South Korea.
